Sophisticated balance between reason and madness
Those who know Danilo Callegari know what incredible things he is capable of. Most could classify him as a bold boy, too busy looking for adrenaline to fully realize the risks he runs. Yet the extraordinary missions of which he is the protagonist reveal an extraordinary psychophysical balance. During his performances, Danilo completely relies on the tenacity, the iron willpower in pursuing a single objective: to reach the goal, physically intact and mentally integrated with the air, the earth and the water enemies / friends of his adventures.
The extreme as a philosophy of life
The insatiable desire to challenge himself by measuring himself with Mother Nature was born in Friuli Venezia Giulia, in a perfect habitat, between the mountains and the sea, where Danilo was born on February 21st, 1983. From an early age he has the opportunity to approach many sports that allow him to experience the multiformity of nature, prompting him to question the man’s ability to survive and adapt to adverse conditions. It is this curiosity that opens the door to extreme sports and parachuting, which becomes a real profession that leads him to enlist in the Italian Army and to experience firsthand the cruelty of the war in Iraq. At this juncture Danilo experiences profound survival. On this occasion, the naive curiosity that fed his thoughts as a child takes shape in an approach to extremism as a philosophy of life; the need to discover one’s limits does not remain the self-centered need to feel invincible, but becomes recognition of the fragility of existence, of the majesty of nature and of the desire to be part of it.
Antarctica Extreme: endless energy with Sportcube!
Danilo is preparing to live another unique experience in October 2018: Antarctica Extreme! Sportcube will be at his side in this extraordinary enterprise and will support him with an innovative food plan tailored to his livelihood. The R&D Lab Sportcube, in collaboration with the team of nutritionists, carried out a careful analysis Danilo’s nutritional and integration needs, taking into consideration the effort required by the adventure and the characteristics of the environment in which it is takes place. Sportcube has therefore developed food substitutes (to be distributed in the morning, midday and evening time slots in a wide range of flavors to break up the monotony of taste) and ad hoc food supplements. The real innovation linked to these products is the low weight, to facilitate transport (we recall that Danilo will have to drag a sled weighing 160 kg with everything needed for survival for about 1,300 km) combined with the practicality of use and intake. In this breathtaking venture, an airplane will take our hero from Punta Arenas (Chile) to Hercules Inlet, on Weddell Bay; from here it will point to the geographic South Pole. Once he reaches his goal, he will be picked up by a plane that will take him to the Monte Vinson region, the highest mountain in Antarctica. From the skies that dominate this mountainous area, Danilo will fly in a parachute at an altitude of 5,000 meters, launching himself from a twin-engine propeller plane. On the ground, he will point to the third objective: the ascent of Mount Vinson (4.897 meters), the Antarctic roof and the fourth of his ‘7Summits’.
