Before the accident
Michele was born on September the 5th, 1970 in Udine and in 1983 his promising cicling activity with Velo Club Latisana starts. In seven years of amateur (1989-1995) he has collected seven victories, the most important in an open race amateurs-professionals in Porec. In 1996 the adventure in mountain bike started, which made him collect over 400 victories. In 2006 he won the Italian Master Street 2 Championship.
September, the 12th, 2007, everything changes
During a training session, a very serious accident turns his life upside down. From that moment, weeks of intensive therapy, hospitals, surgery and painful treatments; physical pain and discouragment, certainties started to falter, his life started to irreparably change. Now Michele has a titanium plate in the head and the right side of the cranium rebuilt in resin; many problems to the right hand, to the left shoulder and left eye, difficulties in equilibrium and in language. However, thanks to his determination and to never giving up and to the irreplaceable help of his wife, step by step, he has regained his strenghts and started running again.
From 2009 the birth of the fast man
In 2010 he conquered the 3° rank at the worldwide street competition in Canada, with the victory of the Street World Cup, 3 Italian awards (one on street and two on track) and has reached the 2° rank in the world.
In 2011 thanks to sacrifice and seriousness during training sessions, he regained the World Champion title on street in Roskilde in Denmark, he ranked 5th in the worldwide sprint race, he won two World Cup and the final ranking in the street race, 5 European Cup competitions and 4 Italian awards (on street, mountain bike and 2 on track); 1st in Worldwide Ranking.
On September the 6th, 2012, he ranked 3rd at the Paralympics in London.
In 2013 another big hit
On August the 17th, 2013, during one of the last trainining sessions for the World Cup in Canada, after a terrible group fall Michele fractured three vertebrae. Stronger due to the first hard life experience, without fear, he worked hard to recover and started again.
Nobody can stop him
In 2014 he won all international street races and also some sprint races. On the 31st of August in hot Greenville in Sud Carolina (USA), ha regained the wonderful white t-shirt with the iris: 3rd iris title on street and 5th in his career.
In 2015 he won the Verolaparacycling Cup on street – sprint race and the European Cup Tour of Srem Gold on street.
ln 2016 he became Italian champion of cyclocross and of mountain bike.
In 2017 he won the Paralympics of Maniago, the only Gold prize in cycling and what’s more in the hometown. In 2 hours of race, 86,5km done at an average of 43km/h!
